Just west of us at the foot of the ridge. Long driveways, gravel and red clay are the normal conditions out here, and we turn up set up for all three.
Where we work in Rocky Face
We cover Rocky Face and the roads running west out of Dalton toward Dug Gap and the ridge, the properties along Highway 201 and the older homes on the lanes off Chattanooga Road. It is a ten minute run from where we are based, which makes it one of the easiest calls on our list.
Out this way plenty of homes sit a long way back from the road on gravel, and that is exactly the situation where a mobile detailer is worth more than a shop. There is nowhere to take the car to locally, and no reason to drive it into town when we can come out.
Gravel, clay and well water
- Gravel driveway dust. Fine limestone dust settles on paint and then gets dragged around by a dry cloth, which is where a lot of the swirl marks on cars out here come from.
- Georgia red clay that comes in on boots and tires. It stains light carpet and light paint, and week one is far easier than month one.
- Well water spotting. Washing at home with hard well water leaves mineral spots that bake on in the sun and can etch into the clear coat. We bring our own filtered water.
- Tree sap and pollen from properties with real tree cover, which is most of them out here.
- Nowhere convenient to wash it. The nearest bay is a drive into Dalton, so cars out here tend to go longer between proper cleans than they should.
A long driveway is not a problem
We run fully self contained. Our own water tank, our own power, our own lighting if we are finishing at dusk. There is nothing you need to provide, no hose to drag out and no outdoor outlet required, which matters when the parking spot is a hundred feet from the house.
Gravel and grass are both fine to work on. All we need is enough flat ground to get around the vehicle safely and open the doors fully. If you are not sure whether your setup works, call and describe it and we will tell you before we drive out.
